I blinked and Crossref hit 2 billion matched citation links! I know, "billion" is one of those numbers so big it stops meaning anything. So let me put it this way: this is 2,000,000,000 times some researchers pointed to other research and said: "I came from this, a bit." Tiny acts of acknowledgement, building on each other - papers to papers, data to papers, papers to code. The whole messy, beautiful graph of how knowledge actually travels. That's provenance and infrastructure at scale - and it's all open and yours to use.
