About us
Manufacturing USA was created in 2014 to secure U.S. global leadership in advanced manufacturing by connecting people, ideas, and technology. Manufacturing USA institutes convene business competitors, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to test applications of new technology, create new products, reduce cost and risk, and enable the manufacturing workforce with the skills of the future. The Manufacturing USA network is operated by the interagency Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office, which is headquartered in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in the Department of Commerce. The office operates in partnership with the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the Departments of Education, Agriculture, Health and Human Services (HHS), and Labor.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) plans to announce a formal competition to support the development of Technology Transition Roadmaps. The Office of Advanced Manufacturing at NIST has issued a Notice of Intent (NOI) for eligible Manufacturing USA institutes to build roadmaps that de-risk and accelerate the technology transition from pilot to full-market adoption. NIST anticipates providing up to $10 million in federal funding to support multiple cooperative agreement awards. Individual awards will not exceed $550,000 for an 18-month performance period. This competition is open exclusively to existing Manufacturing USA institutes, and no cost-share requirement is anticipated. The formal Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) will be posted on Grants.gov and the OAM website. For more information, visit https://lnkd.in/eDqyfzis

This new report highlights Manufacturing USA as a critical national asset driving applied R&D, workforce development, emerging technologies, and regional innovation, while emphasizing that now is the time to “Go Bigger” to strengthen U.S. manufacturing competitiveness.
American manufacturing is at crossroads. Over the past 15 years, the United States has experienced a declining rate in manufacturing productivity while key competitor nations have increased their edge. Our new report, “A Vision for the Manufacturing USA Program in 2030 and 2035,” examines how the Manufacturing USA program can be reimagined and strengthened to meet the nation’s most pressing manufacturing challenges over the next decade and beyond. The report examines comparable international advanced manufacturing programs and explores opportunities to strengthen technology transfer, cross-institute and cross-agency collaboration, regional manufacturing ecosystems, and workforce development. Explore the report's recommendations below. To learn more, visit: https://ow.ly/xb2250YZ8Qz #Manufacturing #AdvancedManufacturing #TechnologyTransfer
