It’s all fun and games until someone gets a laser in the eye. A Colorado tabletop game tournament organizer noticed that players were using lasers in the game Warhammer 40,000, and a few of those beams wound up in people’s eyes, causing temporary impairment. So, he started researching the issue and consulted with NIST laser expert Joshua Hadler. Hadler offered some helpful tips to help gamers play more safely. Sometimes the Machine Spirit cannot be appeased with tech rites
GW lasers are low power, red dot little devices in the same class of the old presentation "clickers". WH40K tournaments have rules and referees, they can suspend the game and remove any unsanctioned lasers easily. Play safe, just don't roll 1 with those plasmas!

I've seen too much laser eye damage in my former career as a laser physicist. It's preposterous that Class III and IV lasers are available for public sale to unlicensed persons.
